Ahead of the quad conference, China says US ‘Indo-Pacific strategy’ is bound to fail.

China has made a broad start against the US Indo-Pacific strategy ahead of a summit of quad leaders in Japan on Sunday, saying it was “forced to fail” because it had been strongly promoted by Washington to “hold” Beijing.

The “Indo-Pacific Strategy” is raising more concerns and concerns in the international community, especially in the Asia-Pacific region, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told a joint news conference with his Pakistani counterpart about the Indo-Pacific strategy in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou .

This is Bilawal’s first visit to China since taking over as foreign minister after the fall of the Imran Khan-led government last month.

The U.S. “Indo-Pacific strategy” is bound to be a failed strategy, Wang said in a comment posted on his website by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

His remarks came ahead of a quad summit to be held in Tokyo on May 24, which will be attended by US President Joe Biden, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his counterparts from Japan and Australia.

China refers to the region as the Asia-Pacific region and contradicts the Indo-Pacific strategic concept that gained prominence during the tenure of former US President Donald Trump and his successor Joe Biden.

The Asia-Pacific should be a platform for peaceful development rather than a geopolitical arena. Wang said efforts to turn the Asia-Pacific into a bloc, NATO or the Cold War would never succeed.

Quad groupings from the United States, Japan, India, and Australia focus on the free and open Indo-Pacific, while Beijing compares it to ‘Asian NATO’, which aims at its emergence.

The United States, India, and several other world powers are talking about the need to ensure a free, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific against the backdrop of China’s growing military maneuvers in the resource-rich region.

China claims almost all of the disputed South China Sea, although Taiwan, the Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia and Vietnam all claim part of it. Beijing has built artificial islands and military installations in the South China Sea. China has territorial disputes with Japan in the East China Sea.

Wang said the Indo-Pacific strategy was interested in forming a “rolled” “circle” of the United States in the name of “freedom and openness.” China claims that the group wants to “change the environment around China.” Its purpose is to contain China and make the Asia-Pacific countries the “pawns” of US domination, Wang said.

Particularly dangerous is the US disguise, provocation and playing “Taiwan” and “South China Sea” cards, he said.

“Try to confuse other regions and then try to confuse the Asia-Pacific region as well. The data will prove that the so-called “Indo-Pacific strategy” is essentially a strategy to create divisions, incite conflict and disrupt peace, “he said.

“Whether it is a package or a camouflage, it will inevitably fail in the end. The people of the region should tell the United States that the old Cold War scenario should never be repeated in Asia and that the unrest and war in the world should never happen in this region, “he said.

Wang said the Indo-Pacific concept is not only trying to erase the name “Asia-Pacific” and the architecture of effective regional cooperation in the region, but also to achieve and achieve the peaceful development created by the concerted efforts of countries. In this region for the last few decades

He said there are new memories of conflicts and clashes over dominance in the Asia-Pacific region and they are now pursuing national stability and happiness.

There is a general reluctance among the Asia-Pacific countries to take sides. He said the common voice was that all countries should live in harmony and win-win cooperation should follow.

The trend of the time in the Asia-Pacific region is to move forward with regional integration and build an Asia-Pacific community with a shared future, he said.

Overall peace and stability are maintained in the region in the face of global instability and change. Asia was the first to emerge from the shadow of the epidemic in 2021 with GDP growth reaching 6.3 percent. This has not come easily because of the solidarity of the Asia-Pacific countries and the hard work of its people, Wang said.

Wang attacked the “Indo-Pacific Economic Framework” (IPEF) launched by Biden in Tokyo on the sidelines of the Quad conference.

China, like other countries in the region, is pleased to see initiatives to strengthen regional cooperation. But it opposes plots to create a divisive conflict, Wang said.

“First, we must draw a big question mark and see the plot behind it,” he said.

First, free trade should be promoted and protectionism should not be pursued in disguise, he said.

Asia is highly acceptable for globalization and free trade. The region has achieved outstanding. In line with WTO rules, the parties have set an Asia-Pacific free zone trade goal, launched the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and established a platform for regional cooperation with ASEAN at the center, he said.

China has strongly promoted the liberalization and facilitation of regional trade and investment. On the other hand, the United States has gone against free trade by adopting protectionism and withdrawing from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), Wang said.
