Opposition parties in Bihar on Friday accused CBI officials of “abusing” and using “unparliamentary language” during the interrogation of Rabri Devi, wife of former chief minister and party national president Lalu Prasad.
A CBI team raided the house at 10, Circular Road, Rabri Devi in the early hours of the morning and was named as the accused in a new corruption case filed by the investigating agency.
According to the FIR uploaded on the CBI website, the case relates to Prasad’s tenure as Railway Minister and in addition to the couple, their two daughters Misa Bharati and Hema have been named in the list of 17 accused.
Rabri Devi’s interrogation lasted for more than 12 hours and police were heavily deployed to ensure that the CBI team could get out safely among the historic RJD leaders sitting on the sidewalk in protest of the “conspiratorial move”.
Later, a statement was issued from the party’s state headquarters in which spokesperson Chitranjan Gagan alleged that “without finding anything criminal, the CBI officials resorted to misconduct and used unparliamentary words (seat word) against Rabri Devi”.
“We reiterate that the recent CBI case and related operations across the country have been sponsored by the ruling BJP at the Center,” the RJD spokesperson alleged.
10, Outside Circular Road, Shakti Singh Yadav and Ijja Yadav, both former MLAs and now spokespersons have made these allegations.
Ajay Yadav, along with another spokesperson Sarika Paswan, chanted slogans against the “revenge” of the CBI and the Narendra Modi government at the Center, led by women activists of the RJD.
During the interrogation, they lamented the absence of Prasad in Delhi and the absence of their youngest son and political heir, Tejaswi, and claimed that they would not have dared to cross the border if any of them were present. ”
Coincidentally, Prasad’s eldest son, Tej Pratap Yadav, originally seen as a Maverick and Misfit, was inside the compound during the raid.
According to sources close to the family, he was placed outside the main quarters where Rabri Devi was being interrogated.
Tired of the long wait, Tej Pratap is reported to have spent time massaging his neck and back with one of his brokers.
